President Buhari Hands Over Presidential Lodge To Lagos Government - The Reason Will Shock You

President Muhammadu Buhari has handed over the Presidential Lodge at Marina to the Lagos State government. Mr. Buhari’s gesture followed a request by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to have the lodge released to the Lagos State Government in its bid to transform the Marina-Onikan axis into a world-class arts and tourism hub.
President Buhari Hands Over Presidential Lodge To Lagos Government

The president’s approval was communicated in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, to Mr. Ambode.

In a statement on Sunday signed by Lagos State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, Mr. Ambode said the president’s gesture was a demonstration of his “keen admiration for Lagos State as the Centre of Excellence that is well suited to becoming Africa’s foremost hub for arts, entertainment, and tourism”.

The statement said with the presidential approval, Mr. Ambode has consequently unveiled plans to turn the lodge into The Heritage Centre for Leadership, which would be redesigned and equipped as a landmark research and tourist arena that will be open to local and international visitors.
“On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his kind hand-over of the Presidential Lodge in Marina to the Lagos State government,” Mr. Ambode said.
“This, in my opinion, demonstrates the President’s special interest in Lagos State, which is in line with the promise he made in Lagos during the electioneering campaign, that the interest of Lagosians will always be paramount in his heart.”
It added that President Buhari’s approval had come at a time that the old Lagos State House in Marina, which is next door to the Presidential Lodge, is also being prepared for a transformation to The Lagos History Centre, as a mark of honour to and celebration of all former governors of Lagos State, as well as for the benefit of humankind as a whole.

The State Executive Council had approved the Lagos House Marina to be turned into Lagos History Centre for tourism purposes.
“With the handing over of the Presidential Lodge to Lagos State, the Lagos State Government will begin a process that will transform the whole area into a culture zone in the next two to three years that every Lagosian will be proud of,” said Mr. Ambode.
“These two buildings will be nurtured as world-class monuments by the Lagos State Government to compliment the ongoing larger plan that aims to transform the Marina-Onikan axis into a multi-sectorial culture zone.”
The statement added that the governor’s plan for Marina-Onikan culture zone includes a skywalk that would connect Marina all the way to the Freedom Park on Broad Street to offer the ultimate view of the “culture arcade” that will emerge between Marina and Broad Street and the entire zone to tourists and local visitors.

Also, Mr. Ambode said the axis would also accommodate a Tourist Welcome Centre that comprises of a multi layer car park, mall, Lagos Aquarium Centre and other tourist facilities.

President Muhammadu Buhari has voiced optimism about the release of more Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents on April 14, 2014.

Yesterday, Boko Haram freed 21 of the abducted girls in a swap deal that saw the Nigerian government release four detained members of the Islamist group. The girls’ release came after President Buhari departed Abuja to travel to Germany on a state visit.

In a joint press conference earlier today with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Buhari disclosed that his administration would continue negotiations with the Islamist terror group to secure the release of the remaining schoolgirls.
[ads-post]
After speaking about the release of 21 schoolgirls, President Buhari noted that more than “100 more are still in the hands of the terrorists somewhere in the Lake Chad Basin area which include Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria.

“In getting these 21 out, we hope we will get enough intelligence to go about securing the rest of them.”

Mr. Buhari expressed gratitude to the United Nations for working towards securing the release of the abducted schoolgirls.

He reminded reporters that Boko Haram has killed no fewer than 37,000 Nigerians, adding that Nigeria has about two million people in Internally Displaced Persons camps. According to him, 60 percent of the internally displaced persons are women and children. Mr. Buhari disclosed that 60 percent of displaced children are orphaned.

“This is a major challenge for [the] government,” said Mr. Buhari, explaining that his administration has to provide education and health for the displaced people in addition to returning them to their villages and towns and helping to reintegrate them normal lives.

President Buhari thanked the German government for its humanitarian assistance and support for Nigeria in tackling the effects of terrorism.

Responding to a question about an interview granted by his wife, Aisha Buhari, to the BBC, the Nigerian leader urged his wife and the opposition to appreciate the depth of the problems he met on assumption of office.

He elicited laughter at the press conference when he jokingly said, “I claim superior knowledge compared to [my wife] and the opposition,” mentioning his three failed campaigns for the presidency of Nigeria over a 12-year period before he won on his fourth attempt.

The Federal Government has apologized to Nigerians for the plagiarism pointed out in the president’s speech at the just-concluded “Change Begins with Me” campaign in Abuja. (READ HERE)

Update: President Buhari Apologizes To Nigerians For Plagiarizing Obama’s Speech
Reacting to comments by Nigerians through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu.

Mr Shehu responding to the allegation through his twitter handle @Garshehu.

[ads-post]
“PMB has ordered that prompt & appropriate disciplinary action be taken against those responsible for a wrongful insertion in his speech delivered on September 8, 2016 at the launch of the “Change Begins with Me’’ campaign.”

“It was observed that the similarities between a paragraph in President Obama’s 2008 Victory Speech and what President Buhari read in paragraph 9 of the 16 paragraph address while inaugurating the Campaign on Thurs., Sept. 8, are too close to be passed as coincidence. There was a mistake by an overzealous staff and we regret that this has happened. Already, a Deputy Director in the Presidency has accepted responsibility for the insertion of the contentious paragraph.”

”This serious oversight will be investigated thoroughly and appropriate sanction meted. The Presidency wishes to state in the clearest possible terms that it regrets this unfortunate incident and will ensure that this does not happen again”
”President Buhari urges Nigerians to look beyond this incident and focus on the message of change which the country needs in order to restore our cherished value systems” he said .

We must go back to farming – President Buhari insists

"We must go back to farming," President Buhari said this during his working visit to Zamfara State yesterday.

His words:

[ads-post]

“As the people of the state are aware the change agenda was the central issue of our 2015 electioneering campaign.

Since this administration’s assumption of office in May 2015, the journey to fix the country and restore the hope of the common man in the Nigerian project has begun in earnest.

You have all agreed to join me and work as agents of change, the challenge of all of us, therefore, is translating the change into reality. I, therefore, wish to call on everyone to think closely about the Nigerian situation.

There is no easy money to throw around; we must go back to farming, livestock rearing so that we could develop the industries. We must put our hands on deck to ensure the success of our mission in engineering Nigeria.

If efforts were made in the past to diversify the economy from our absolute reliance on a single commodity, we would not have found ourselves in our current situation. I assure all Nigerians that the grim economic situations are passing phase which all societies go through.”

Nigerian President , “Muhammadu Buhari Today Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 Visits Zamfara State On A Working Visit” , During this Visit he’s expected to launch a special military task force today to fight “bandits”. He was welcomed by Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, and other governors“Pictures President Buhari Arrives Zamfara State On A Working Visit”

Read what a Nigerian Northerner Wrote About the Visit On His Facebook Wall.

"It was absolutely proved to be wrong for a person claiming to rebuild infrastructures and upgrades the standard of education and health facilities as a President reporting himself abroad for ear treatment and as well sending his children to graduate from foreign university. It was really observed that the words go differently with the actions when the nation’s boundaries were closed it was declared that there shall be an import substitution strategy by the Nigerian govt, therefore everybody must farm to eat rice. We expected the same thing to be applied in health sectors that including our leader's nobody would have admitted his self for foreign hospital and that nobody would have admitted his children to foreign universities so that the Nigerian govt would have developed an expertise in every sector to salvage the Nigerian and enhance the economics status quo. Things are now moving another way round (unexpectedly).Buhari is to visit zamfara state to commissioned a single road that was commissioned by other govt representatives severally not to expose the secret of d matter with regard to insecurity issues in zamfara state. very unfortunate Buhari‘s actions go against his spoken words most frequently. If the changes would have comes to us in this way we consider it another way round. Allah ya sauwake" – ‎Abdulmunafi Usman‎

Buhari refuses to meet national assembly Leaders - See why

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly cancelled a Ramadan dinner with leaders of the National Assembly, Daily Trust reports.

The meeting, which was supposed to hold on Wednesday night, was said to have been cancelled by the presidency due to clash of schedules.

Making this claim was the senior special assistant to the president for media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, who stated: “This arose from the clash of schedules. You know the President spent the first fourteen days of the fast out of the country.”

[ads-post]

He added that the meeting was packaged as soon as the president arrived so that every interest could be accommodated, but it turned out that prior commitments of some invitees made the change of date inevitable, adding: “We are expecting that a new date will be appointed.”

Abdulrazak Namdas, the House of Representatives spokesperson, said the dinner was organized only for the presiding officers and the other principal officers of the National Assembly, and that they were not the reasons for the cancellation.

Shocking as Pres. Buhari’s medical report leaks

MEDICAL REPORT LEAKS : President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, June 19, returned from the United Kingdom, UK, after his 14-day Medical Vacation, where he went to treat a nagging Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT, Infection and an undisclosed ailment.

The President, who according to medical experts, was still looking sickly, arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 6pm, on Sunday evening.

Recall, that Buhari was scheduled to arrive the country last Thursday, but opted to have a rest, before returning on Sunday.

[ads-post]

While addressing journalists at the Airport, Buhari jokingly challenged one of the correspondents, who asked him about his state of health, to a wrestling competition.

“You have seen me, you saw me when I was going; you can do the assessment by yourself.

“You can see me inspecting the guards of honour, if you want to wrestle me, you can do so, but you know I’m taller than you,” he said, adding that he is resuming work stronger and more energetic.
However, sources said that Buhari’s confession contradicted his look and appearance, which prompted a journalist to ask him about the state of his health.

Niger Delta militants, federal govt agrees on 30-day ceasefire

Yesterday, The Federal Government and militant groups in the Niger Delta , including the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on oil and gas installations in recent months,  agreed to a 30-day truce to give President Muhammadu Buhari time to come up with a comprehensive plan for the oil-rich region, investigations by ThisDay have revealed.

The “30 days of quiet” was said to have been agreed upon last week by a federal government team led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and representatives of the militant groups, community leaders and the state governments.

Last week, Kachikwu had led a government delegation to different camps in Bayelsa and Delta States, including visiting the temporary site of the Maritime University at Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, in a bid to reach out to representatives of the militant groups to get them to stop its attacks on oil and gas facilities.

[ads-post]

The activities of the militants have halved Nigeria’s oil production to some 1.4 million barrels per day, impacted negatively on power supply in the country and the country’s oil earnings.

According to a source who opened up on the 30-day period of truce, Kachikwu was said to have reached out to the militants through back channels and pleaded for some time for the Buhari administration to come up with a comprehensive Niger Delta plan that would address most of their demands.

The militant groups, the source said, accepted Kachikwu’s plea, adding that since the agreement was reached there had been no attacks on oil and gas installations in the oil-rich region.

“You would have noticed that there have been no bombings of oil assets in recent days. This is the fall out of the 30 days of quiet reached with the minister and his team.

“This will give the president time to come up with a comprehensive plan for the Niger Delta,” the source informed ThisDay.

He also revealed that some of the demands made by the militants were for greater control of the hydrocarbon resources in their communities, improved funding for the Amnesty Programme, clean-up of oil producing communities in the Niger Delta that had been devastated by oil exploration activities, and funding for the Maritime University, among others.
