See Why This LASU Professor Was Demoted To A Mere Lecturer

In a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Vice-Chancellor of The Lagos State University‎ (LASU), Ojo, announced that the immediate past Director, LASU External System (part-time programme)‎ Olatunji Abanikannda, has been demoted from professor to a senior lecturer.

Olatunji, who in 2014 contested for the post of the Deputy ‎Vice-Chancellor, but lost to Prof. Fidelis Njokanma was demoted to a lecturer over the lack of requisite papers and journals.

The VC of LASU Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun said the Academic Staff Union of Universities (‎ASUU) LASU chapter had filed a petition alleging that the former Vice-Chancellor, John Obafunwa, promoted the lecturer without due process.

Some members of staff had also reportedly lodged the same complain which caused the institution to former a five-man panel to investigate the allegations.

The panel after several investigations recommended the demotion of Olatunji.
