The 12-year-old marriage had been fraught with quarrels, adding that she decided to endure the assaults because of her children.

I said no. When he continued to accuse me, I asked him why he thought I would steal his money when I spent over N20,000 and borrowed money from friends to facilitate his release.
“I told him to stop disturbing me. He then started punching me in the face and my eyes became swollen. My children begged him, but he refused. It was our neighbours who rescued me from him. I am fed up; but I don’t want to pack out because of my children,” she said.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, had yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone on the incident as of press time.

This how Indian man assaulted his staff in Lagos - Picture
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested an Indian, Jay Keswani, for allegedly assaulting his wife’s domestic help, Faith Nwaneri, on the Banana Island, Ikoyi area of the state.
Punch Metro learned that Keswani was apprehended on Tuesday by the Adeniji Adele division after about six weeks he allegedly evaded arrest.
It was gathered that Faith, who worked for the Indian businessman, was hit in the face on Friday, August 12, while in the Keswanis’ apartment on the Banana Island.
She was said to have been assaulted for coming late to work on that day.
It was learnt that Faith sustained a facial injury after which she reported the matter to the Ikoyi Police Division.
Policemen from the division had reportedly gone to the Island to arrest the Indian but were allegedly prevented from entering the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the Indian’s arrest, adding that he would be charged to court at the end of the investigation.
She said,
“The police arrested him on Tuesday. He was nabbed by the Adeniji Adele division. He was tracked to his house. When the suspect discovered that the police were on the lookout for him, he initially fled. “But when he thought the tension was down, he returned to his house and was arrested. The family support unit of the division is in charge of the case. The Indian has not confessed to the crime, but all the evidence before the police indicate that he assaulted the lady. He will be charged to court.”Faith’s elder brother, Chukwuka, had narrated that her sister was late to work on that Friday because the security men delayed to give her a pass.
He said,
“Keswani’s wife queried Faith for coming late, and she explained that she was delayed by the security men at the gate for lack of a pass. The Indian’s wife became angry and reported Faith to her husband. “There was an altercation, and my sister was hit in the face; she began to bleed. She fell and became unconscious, but they thought she was pretending. When she regained consciousness, she headed for a public hospital at Falomo, and also reported at the Ikoyi Police Station. The police at Ikoyi invited the Indian, but he did not show up.”Punch gathered that the matter was also reported to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Alausa.
The DSVRT Coordinator, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said,
“The case was brought to our attention on September 14. “It came to our knowledge that the case was first reported at the Ikoyi division, but the police at that level were unable to invite him. “The case was transferred to another police section on September 2, but the Indian did not appear to write his statement until September 7. “When the matter got to us, the DSVRT referred the case to the Adeniji Adele division.
The Divisional Police Officer referred the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, and the Commissioner of Police directed that the matter is charged to court.” A source at the Adeniji Adele division said the Indian, in his statement to the police, insisted that he was not guilty of the offense.
#EdoDecide: PDP Candidate, Ize-Iyamu rejects final election result, before it is announced
Although collation is still ongoing at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the result of the Edo state governorship election.
Addressing reporters at his Benin residence, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the PDP, described the results being announced by INEC as a “rape of democracy.”
Ize-Iyamu said his party monitored the election through its agents across the state.
“Contrary to claim that PDP brought in 8,000 militants, the election showed that PDP is law-abiding and did not involve in illegality. The delays in announcing official result by INEC was to announce predetermined fabricated results,” he said.
“The Figures being announced by INEC do not represent the massive turnout. We have told our agents to bring all the results issued at the polling units. We do not want to rely on the messages they sent.
“In the next three or four days, will have a complete record. From findings, it is clear a lot of manipulation has taken place.”
Dan Orbih, chairman of the PDP in Edo, alleged that INEC conspired with the APC government to truncate the wish of the people.
[ads-post]
Like Ize-Iyamu, Orbih said the results announced were at a complete variance with what the party got from it, agents and independent observers.
He alleged that the two-week extension of the poll by the electoral body was to allow for more time to perfect the manipulation of the process.
“You will recall that our state publicity secretary had briefed the press less than 48 hours to the elections on what is playing out now,” he said.
“If you go by the results that were announced at the polling units and wards across the state, it shows that PDP would have won by over 30,000 votes.
“What INEC is announcing is clearly different from what we got from our agents and independent observers in the 192 wards and over 2,000 units across the state.
“We are rejecting these results as they were being announced by INEC and we are coming out early enough to make this known.”
He said the cancellation of some results by failed card reader was part of a thoughtful plan to also manipulate the poll.
Orbih alleged that the areas were results were canceled were the stronghold of the PDP.
“I wonder what the Incident Form is for. Voters should not be made to suffer unduly for the inefficiency of card readers,” he said.

Naira hits new record low as CBN issues new directives on domiciliary accounts - Read this
As Naira came under fresh pressures in the parallel market Wednesday, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, issued more directives restricting usage of domiciliary accounts by bank customers, apparently to stem the pressures and improve the official supply of foreign exchange to the interbank market.
As a result of the pressure, Naira crashed to between N460 and N465/ USD1, against the opening rate of N445/USD1 in the parallel market segment, though the interbank rate depreciated just marginally to N312.9/ USD1, against N310 earlier in the week.
Currency dealers at both segments of the market attributed the renewed pressure on rates to a worsening supply gap at all the segments, even as CBN’s intervention, according to them, has become too thin to assuage the huge demand.
One of the dealers in a commercial bank said:
“CBN may have started finding it difficult to intervene with significant supply of foreign currency to the interbank market.“On the other hand we have been having increased demand from our customers but we are unable to source their requirements for some weeks now.”
Against the backdrop of the huge supply and demand gap, CBN appeared to have renewed its restriction measures on access and usage of independent foreign exchange resources.
[ads-post]
Yesterday, some bank customers said they had received messages from their banks warning them to desist from using foreign exchange inflows in their domiciliary accounts for trading purposes.
The directives, according to a source in a bank, came against the emergence of a thriving currency trade by some individuals with their domiciliary accounts.
An e-mail from one of the banks stated that CBN had mandated that all customers of financial institutions were expected to utilize their accounts within regulatory guidelines.
According to the e-mail, the guidelines stated:“All customers of financial institutions are expected to only use their accounts for their direct personal/company related transactions.“No customer of any financial institution is permitted to engage in any activity that could be perceived as international money remittance service (IMTO) or bureau de change (BDC) activities without the express approval of the CBN.“Any customer who fails to adhere to these guidelines runs the risk of being reported not only to the CBN but subsequently to the security agencies.’’
The bank, in the same e-mail, encouraged customers to be mindful of these directives when using their bank accounts, adding that it would continue to provide updates regarding the proper use of domiciliary bank accounts.
Super Eagles may not attend 2018 world cup qualifiers - The reason will shock you!
Funding for the Super Eagles has suffered to the point that it risks World Cup disqualification.
Although the team has had its bonuses suspended for six months, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) now says it is so broke that it cannot afford to fly the players to Zambia for next month’s qualifier.
A top official of NFF was quoted as saying:
[ads-post]
“We need about N85m to take care of the match against Zambia on October 9, but as we speak, we don’t have any kobo in our purse. We have appealed to Globacom to come to our aid by footing the bills. We are still waiting for response from the FG. The charges for the Airline alone is $200,000 for a 140-seater plane, and it will be on ground with the team for two days.
We need between $6,000 and $10,000 for flight ticket to bring in the players. Their bonuses alone are within the range of N30m. We don’t have any kobo in our purse right now, hence the need for us to approach Glo to come to our aid.”

One killed,3 Injured during robbery operation in Balogun Market
Armed robbers have attacked Balogun Market on the Lagos Island, hacking three security men with machetes, in a failed attempt to burgle some shops in the market.
During the attack on Friday at about 5am, one of the robbers, a Nigerien identified only as Saidu, was also hacked to death by a mob.
It was gathered that the robbers, whose number had yet to be ascertained, were armed with cutlasses and attempted to open some shops.
A distress call was put across to the Ebute Ero Police Division, after which policemen went to the scene. The robbers, except Saidu, reportedly fled.
When Punch Metro visited the market on Monday, most traders refused to comment on the incident, saying business activities had not started as of the time of the incident.

A night guard, who did not want his name in print, however, said that the injured security men were rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
He said,
“It was around 5.30am on Friday. We were the only ones on the market premises, except for some Muslims praying in nearby mosques. We observed that the robbers were armed with cutlasses. They wanted to break into some shops. We confronted them and they attacked us.
“They injured three security men with cutlasses. Some people called the police at the Ebute Ero division. Two policemen were also on patrol around the market. They assisted us in confronting the robbers.
“The injured security men were quickly rushed to a hospital on the Lagos Island. When the robbers sighted the police, they fled. But we made sure that all of them did not escape. One of them was caught, and he turned out to be a Nigerien. He was beaten up by a mob. I don’t know his fate.”
A police source at the Ebute Ero division told our correspondent that the injured robbery suspect was rushed to a hospital, but he did not survive.
“The robber was hacked with machetes. He was also beaten up. He was later rushed to a hospital where he died,” he added.
