Eid-el Fitr Public holidays extended to Thursday 7th of July in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria  has extended the public holidays for the Eid-el-fitr celebration to Thursday the 7th day of July ,2016.

In  statement from the office Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau  signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bassey Okon Akpanyung  which was released today, sighted  the reason for the extension to be the decision of the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to extend the Ramadan fast to today Tuesday the 5th day July 2016  because the moon cannot be sighted.
