Saudi: Muslims Record More Deaths As Over 310 Die In Saudi Hajj Stampede

At least 310 people have been killed in a stampede at the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia's civil defense directorate said. The directorate said at least 450 other pilgrims were injured in the stampede which happened today in Mina, an outskirt of the holy city of Mecca.

Some two million people are taking part in this year's Hajj pilgrimage, which began on Tuesday.

Al Jazeera's Basma Atassi, who reports from Mina, said the incident took place in a street between pilgrim camps. The street is named Street 204, he said.

This stampede did not happen at the site of the stoning of the devil ritual, which will take place today, he emphasized. I just hope no Nigerian is included. Already six Nigerians who died when a crane crashed into a mosque in Mecca have already been buried at the holy city.
